Are You Rubbing Your Eyes? Damage Is Happening!

After waking up from sleep, feeling a little exhausted, for some reason or without any reason, we irritate our eyes. When the eyes itch, they will inevitably be rubbed. Doctors say that rubbing the eyes produces lubrication in the eyes, which is beneficial for the well-being of the eyes. At the same time, this action reduces mental stress by providing stimulation and helps maintain normal heartbeat. But too much of anything is not good. This is also applicable in the case of eye rubbing. Excessive scrubbing of the eyes can cause various major damages. What are they? Come on, let's find out!

Dark circles in the eyes: When you rub your eyes repeatedly, blood starts to clot around the eyes. The pigmentation around the eyes that causes us the most problems, those dark circles are not just due to lack of sleep, but also due to the habit of rubbing the eyes. Repeated eye rubbing breaks the capillaries around the eyes. This happens when the thin blood vessels under the eyes are damaged. Not only that, the sudden red blood vessels that burst in the white part of the eye are also due to the same reason.

Corneal damage: Rubbing the eyes too much with hands does cause some external damage. But the biggest damage is to the eye's vision. Excessive eye rubbing changes the shape of the cornea and gives birth to an ocular problem called keratoconus. This usually happens more when debris or dust enters the eyes. The itchiness or burning sensation created from it leads to habitual eye rubbing to get quick relief. This increases the fragility of the cornea and pushes towards photosensitivity.
