The Great Wall of China
চীনের মহাপ্রাচীর পাথর ও মাটি দিয়ে তৈরি দীর্ঘ structure। এগুলি খ্রিস্টপূর্ব ৫ম শতক থেকে খ্রিস্টীয় ১৬শ শতক পর্যন্ত চীনের উত্তর boundary রক্ষা করার জন্য তৈরি ও রক্ষণাবেক্ষণ করা হয়। এরকম অনেকগুলি fortifications তৈরি করা হয়েছিল, তবে ২২০ খ্রিস্টপূর্বাব্দ থেকে ২০০ খ্রিস্টপূর্বাব্দের মধ্যবর্তী সময়ে চীনের প্রথম সম্রাট শি - হোয়াং তিনি নির্মিত barrier টিই সবচেয়ে বিখ্যাত। এটি বর্তমান wall এর অনেক উত্তরে অবস্থিত এবং এর খুব সামান্যই remnants আছে। বর্তমান প্রাচীরটি মিং রাজবংশের শাসনামলে নির্মিত হয়।
চীনের মহাপ্রাচীর মানুষের হাতে তৈরি পৃথিবীর সবচেয়ে বড় architecture। এই প্রাচীরের উচ্চতা প্রায় ৫ থেকে ৮ মিটার এবং দৈর্ঘ্য ৮৮৫১.৮ কিলোমিটার। এটি শুরু হয়েছে সাংহাই পাশ এবং শেষ হয়েছে লোপনুর নামক স্থানে।
এর মূল অংশের নির্মাণ শুরু হয়েছিল প্রায় খ্রিস্টপূর্ব ২০৮ সালের দিকে। নির্মাণ কাজ শুরু করেছিলেন চৈনিক বা চাইনিজরা কিন সাম্রাজ্যের সময়। চীনের প্রথম সম্রাট কিন সি হুয়াং এটি প্রথম ব্যবহার করেছিলেন এবং শত্রুর হাত থেকে নিজের territory কে রক্ষার জন্য দীর্ঘ করে নির্মাণ করেছিলেন। এটি চীনের প্রকৃতিক barriers ছাড়া অন্যান্য অঞ্চল পাহারা দেওয়ার কাজে এবং উত্তর চীনের উপজাতি সুইং নু বিরুদ্ধে এটি প্রথম স্তরের defense ব্যবস্থা ছিল।
হান, সুই, নরদান এবং জিং সাম্রাজ্যের সময়ের ইতিহাসেও যে কারণে তারা এটি তৈরি করেছিলেন ঠিক একই কারণে চীনের প্রাচীরের modification, expansion, এবং reconstruction এর উল্লেখ আছে।
