Artemis Mission: A New Chapter in Returning to the Moon
More than six decades have passed since NASA's first lunar mission in 1969. Taking an initiative to return humans to the Moon in 2025, it has been delayed again. This pioneering mission has been named Artemis, after the Greek moon goddess.
Artemis will play a crucial role in sending astronauts to Mars. For this purpose, scientists have envisioned creating temporary settlements of humans and robots on the Moon. NASA's Space Launch System (SLS) and Orion spacecraft will be used to conduct the mission. NASA is currently planning to execute this mission in three phases.
This ambitious endeavor will be conducted under NASA's leadership and with the financial and collaborative support of 21 countries on Earth. Its goals are scientific research, economic development, and to inspire new generations in scientific pursuit.
Through the Artemis mission, scientists will gain unprecedented knowledge about the Moon's geological structure and the origin of the solar system. This mission is not just technological advancement, but will open new horizons for humanity's space exploration journey.
